ProIAQ Highlights Importance of Year-Round Indoor Air Quality and Cystic Fibrosis Awareness on WPBF 25 News
South Florida TV segment offers practical tips for healthier homes and highlights the importance of indoor air quality for all families, especially those living with respiratory conditions.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 27, 2026) — Americans spend approximately 90% of their time indoors, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, making indoor air quality an important consideration for everyone’s health and well-being.
As October’s Indoor Air Quality Awareness Month comes to a close, ProIAQ, a provider of indoor air quality solutions, is encouraging homeowners to make cleaner indoor air a year-round priority. The company recently appeared on WPBF 25 News in South Florida to share practical tips for healthier homes and raise awareness about the challenges faced by individuals living with respiratory conditions such as cystic fibrosis.
Joining ProIAQ’s Trish Newell on the broadcast were Jessie and her 11-year-old son, Reilly, who lives with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease that affects the lungs and other organs. Jessie explained that while she can take steps to maintain a healthier environment at home, she cannot always control the air her son breathes at school, in stores or other public places. For individuals with cystic fibrosis, respiratory infections can pose serious health risks, making indoor air quality especially important.
“Indoor air quality affects every family, whether you’re managing a respiratory condition or trying to maintain a healthy home,” said Ron Saunders, founder of ProIAQ. “Reilly’s story reminds us why this matters, but the conversation shouldn’t end when October does. We all need to pay more attention to the air we’re breathing every day.”
Four Tips for Healthier Indoor Air Year-Round
During the segment, Newell shared practical steps homeowners can take to improve indoor air quality:
- Change HVAC filters regularly. Proper filtration helps capture dust, pollen and other airborne particles.
- Dust and vacuum routinely. Regular cleaning helps reduce the buildup of dust, pet dander and allergens.
- Think about the entire home. Ventilation, filtration, humidity control and HVAC maintenance all contribute to healthier indoor environments.
- Explore whole-home air purification. Consult your HVAC professional about technologies like UV-C lights [and ProIAQ products like PCO PRO] that can complement traditional filtration and help address indoor air quality concerns.
Newell showcased ProIAQ’s PCO PRO, an HVAC-integrated air purification solution, and explained how professionally installed technologies can support cleaner indoor environments.
The segment also highlighted Oceans and Roses, a Nov. 14 event at Old School Square in Delray Beach, organized in partnership with the Oceans for Kids Foundation to raise awareness and funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
As Indoor Air Quality Awareness Month concludes, ProIAQ encourages homeowners to take a proactive approach to the air they breathe, not just in October, but throughout the year.
